Open Question: Where is the best place "town, state" in the US to live?

I hate the state I live in. The public education sucks, there's so much racism (on both ends), and the summers are torture, unless your at the beach. I'm currently attending school and will receive my associates degree in nursing soon, meaning I can get a job in any state. Two states that are out are; Texas, because I am from there and you can never go home and South Carolina, where I currently live. So is there a town/state that you would consider the best place to live in the US? OK, Let me make this clear. I LIVE IN Charleston, SOUTH CAROLINA, I HATE IT.
